State College resident, 45, dead after single-vehicle crash, police say
A 45-year-old State College resident died Thursday after a single-vehicle crash on a residential road in College Township, borough police said in a statement.
The crash occurred about 3:45 p.m. on the 400 block of Trout Road, police said. Officers said the driver was trapped inside the vehicle with serious injuries and died despite lifesaving efforts after being extricated.
Police did not release additional details about the crash in the statement and a sergeant declined to comment further when contacted by the Centre Daily Times. Trout Road was closed while crews worked on the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday at Mount Nittany Medical Center, the Centre County Coroner’s Office said in a statement.

There were seven fatal crashes during the past decade in College Township, according to state Department of Transportation statistics. Rush Township reported the most of any municipality in Centre County with 11.
