DeShong to leave post as State High principal for Chester County school
Principal Scott DeShong is reportedly leaving State College Area High School and headed to Avon Grove High School in West Grove.
According to the Avon Grove School District website, the district’s school board is expected to approve DeShong’s position at its Aug. 13 meeting.
DeShong has been the State High principal since 2013, when he replaced Craig Butler, who took an administrative position in the Hazleton Area School District.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Penn State, a master’s from the University of Pittsburgh, and his principal certification from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He also completed post-master’s degree work at California University of Pennsylvania, according to the website statement.
The Avon Grove district serves seven municipalities in southeast Chester County.
DeShong is also a former principal of Lemont/Houserville Elementary School, assistant principal of Mount Nittany Middle School and principal of the State High South Building.
State College Area School District representatives could not be reached for comment Thursday.
