If you want to live in a community where entrepreneurship is welcome, you may be closer than you think.
State College, according to livability.com, is the 10th best city to be an entrepreneur.
“Available to entrepreneurs in the State College region are organizations like the Centre Region Entrepreneur Network and the New Leaf Initiative,” the site said. “In addition, Penn State University has start-up assistance offerings such as TechCelerator at State College and Lion Launch Pad.”
The Small Business Development Center also has an office on campus to help new businesses.
Livability estimated that there was 18 percent business growth in the area and 14 percent employment growth from 2011 to 2015.
The site also said in January that State College was in the top 10 for college tailgating cities, though no specific ranking was given.
“State College turns into one giant football party on game days,” Livability said. “The scene is effervescent at Penn State, which features some of the largest tailgate fields in America, along with ... campout zone Nittanyville. Fans love to nosh on favorite pregame fare before cheering on the (Nittany) Lions in Beaver Stadium.”
