Inmate allegedly spit on corrections officer

A Benner state prison inmate allegedly spit on a corrections officer on Thursday, according to a release from state police at Rockview.

Police said the officer was walking past an outdoor exercise “cage” that held the inmate, when he allegedly spit on the officer, causing the officer to come in contact with the inmate’s saliva.

The saliva reportedly struck the officer on the left side of the head.

The investigation is ongoing.
