State College man charged with making terroristic threats
A State College man was charged with making terroristic threats after allegedly restraining a woman known to him and threatening her friend.
According to the complaint filed by State College police, officers responded to a call about a harassment at about 2:30 a.m. Sept. 4 along South Garner Street. The female caller reported that Eajai Alvarez, 24, whom she allegedly said she had a past relationship with, had approached her and asked her to come home with him.
When the woman declined, police said, Alvarez allegedly grabbed her around the neck “in a restraint move, holding her tight against his chest” and told her to come home with him. The woman’s friend tried to intervene, and Alvarez began yelling threats at the friend.
He allegedly yelled at the friend that he was going to “rape” her, police said. When the friend tried to record him on her phone, he struck her, knocking the phone to the ground.
A male passer-by tried to intervene, police said, and Alvarez allegedly said he would “end” him. Alvarez eventually released the woman and she and her friends tried to leave the area, but he took the woman by the wrist and asked her to come home with him again.
The woman was able to pull free and walk away, police said, but Alvarez followed them for another block.
Alvarez faces misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats, false imprisonment and criminal mischief, according to court documents. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
The case now moves toward trial.
