Attempted retail theft results in felony charge

A Lewistown man was charged with felony theft Saturday in Patton Township.

John Meck, 27, was taken into custody by Wal-Mart loss prevention Friday for retail theft, according to the criminal complaint. Meck reportedly attempted to remove more than $340 in merchandise from the store.

Meck was arrested by Patton Township police and charged with one felony charge of retail theft and one misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property. A criminal history showed he had at least three prior retail theft convictions.

Bail was set at $10,000, according to court documents. A preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 14.
