Natural gas pump damaged by unknown driver
State College police are seeking a driver who reportedly struck a natural gas pump in College Township before leaving the scene.
According to police, an officer was dispatched Monday to the Clean Energy natural gas pump station at 100 Transfer Road. The vehicle was not at the scene and it was unclear when the pump had been hit.
On arrival, the officer noted the pump had been knocked over at the base, police said, and the odor of natural gas and a hissing sound was coming from the exposed pipes. The operations manager advised that the gas had already been shut off, and the fire chief said there was still pressure in the lines but no leaks were detected.
Clean Energy advised there was no safety risk and the pump would be repaired, police said. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police at 234-7150.
