Preliminary hearings for Beta Theta Pi fraternity members continued

adrey@centredaily.com

The preliminary hearing for the 18 fraternity members, and the fraternity itself, charged in the death of 19-year-old pledge Timothy Piazza was continued again Tuesday after two days of testimony.

Tuesday’s hearing was focused on the defense, as the attorneys for the 16 defendants worked to poke holes in the prosecution’s story about the events surrounding Piazza’s alleged fall down a flight of stairs at the Beta Theta Pi fraternity house on Feb. 2.

The final cross-examinations, as well as final statements from the attorneys, has been scheduled for Aug. 10-11.
