Police release Labor Day weekend crime statistics
State College police released its Labor Day holiday weekend crime statistics, noting that the September holiday weekend is typically a slow one in terms activity.
According to police, a total of 37 non-traffic citations were issued, with the highest count of eight citations for open container violations. Underage drinking violations were second with seven citations, with public drunkenness and public urination third with six violations each.
Only one DUI was noted for the weekend, police said, which measured from 6 p.m. Thursday through noon Sunday. In all, police handled a total of 133 calls.
“Labor Day weekend is usually slow because everyone leaves after the game,” said Lt. Gregory Brauser. “Everyone just gets out of town.”
