Man scratched, bit hospital security, police say

A State College man faces felony charges after allegedly fighting with security at a hospital.

Officers responded Oct. 7 to the Mount Nittany Medical Center for a report of a patient fighting with guards, police said. Nicholas T. Cable, 26, had reportedly been secured and sedated by the time they arrived.

Two guards said they had been guarding Cable in the emergency room when he refused a CT scan, police said. He reportedly tried to run past the guards, and bit and scratched them when he was stopped. One officer was allegedly bitten on both hands.

Cable was charged Thursday with two felony counts of aggravated assault and two misdemeanor counts of simple assault. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 1.
