Man charged with assault after allegedly kicking police officer, bar staff

A Cambria County man faces charges in Centre County after allegedly assaulting bar staff and a police officer.

According to State College police, an officer was dispatched at about midnight Saturday for a fight at the Indigo nightclub. Two men had been restrained by police and staff after reportedly fighting in the club.

One of the men, Theodore E. Jones, 53, of Gallitzin, was yelling about being in a fight with staff, police said. Witnesses and staff reported that Jones had been fighting with staff and kicked a staff member in the head several times.

Jones repeatedly resisted arrest, police said, and kicked an officer while being placed on a gurney by EMTs. Jones was able to be strapped down and taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for evaluation.

He was charged with one felony count of aggravated assault, misdemeanor charges of simple assault and resisting arrest, and summary charges of harassment, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, court documents said. Unsecured bail was set at $20,000.
