Man accused of having sex with intoxicated teen

A Glen Richey man is facing charges after police say he had sex with a 14-year-old girl while she was intoxicated.

Harley S. Rothrock, 20, was charged Thursday by Clearfield borough police with six counts each of statutory sexual assault, indecent assault of a person less than 16 years of age and corruption of minors, in relation to incidents alleged to have happened in October.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Oct. 26 the girl’s mother reported that her daughter had sex with Rothrock. She stated a witness saw Rothrock and her daughter together at her residence.

This witness reportedly told police that the girl had been staying at her residence from Oct. 18-20 in the Clearfield borough when she caught walked in on the two after having sex in her bedroom.

When the witness confronted them, they apologized for “having sex” in her bed and said that it would never happen again, she said.

The girl later told police that she had previously had sex with Rothrock after the two attended a party. She reportedly told police she was intoxicated and high on marijuana when Rothrock helped her walk to a car and then into a cornfield where the first alleged encounter occurred.

They went back to the party and then to a residence where they had sex twice more, police said.

She also stated that while she was at the Clearfield borough residence, they allegedly had sex two out of the three nights she stayed there. She advised that she was high “on weed” at the time, according to the report.

In his interview with police, Rothrock allegedly told investigators he was also intoxicated when they had sex.
