A Glen Richey man accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl while she was intoxicated waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during centralized court in Clearfield County.
Harley S. Rothrock, 20, is facing five counts each of statutory sexual assault, indecent assault person less than 16 years of age and corruption of minors by Clearfield borough police in relation to incidents in October. One count of each charge was withdrawn prior to Rothrock agreeing to waive the case on to the Court of Common Pleas.
Rothrock remains incarcerated in the Clearfield County Jail on $50,000 bail.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Oct. 26 the girl’s mother reported that her daughter had sex with Rothrock. She stated a witness saw Rothrock and the teen together at her residence.
This witness reportedly told police that the girl had stayed at her Clearfield borough home from Oct. 18-20. In the early morning hours of Oct. 20, the witness allegedly caught Rothrock and the girl having sex in her bedroom, where her son was sleeping.
When she confronted them, the girl and Rothrock apologized for “having sex” in her bed and said that it would never happen again, she said. Rothrock allegedly said “it was very disrespectful to do that,” especially with her young son sleeping in the same bed.
The girl later told police that she had previously had sex with Rothrock after the two attended a party. She reportedly said she was intoxicated and used marijuana when he helped her walk to a car and then into a cornfield where the first alleged encounter occurred.
They went back to the party and then to a residence where they had sex again, police said.
She also stated that while she was at the Clearfield borough residence, they allegedly had sex two out of the three nights she stayed there. She advised that she was high “on weed” at the time, according to the report.
In his interview with police, Rothrock allegedly told investigators he was also intoxicated when they had sex.
