Churches recently burglarized, damaged, police say

Several churches in Blair and Huntingdon counties have reportedly been burglarized or damaged over the past week.

According to state police in Hollidaysburg, sometime between Dec. 12 and Saturday, an unknown person entered the Sinking Valley Presbyterian Church along Kettle Road in Tyrone Township, Blair County, and caused about $2,000 in damages.

A second church was reportedly entered in Blair County, police said, as a Dec. 13 report indicated a burglary at the Williamsburg Independent Church, along Lower Clover Creek Road in Williamsburg. No additional information was available.

Anyone with information on these burglaries is encouraged to contact state police at Hollidaysburg at 696-6100.

State police at Huntindgon also reported an attempted burglary sometime between Saturday and Sunday at the Spruce Creek Methodist Church in Spruce Creek Township, Huntingdon County. An unknown individual reportedly damaged the front door of the church.

The investigation into all three incidents continues.
