Pennsylvania state police are in a standoff with a man in Westmoreland County.

The incident began Tuesday morning in Youngwood, which is a town about 45 minutes southeast of Pittsburgh. State police in Troop A issued an alert for residents to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

“We believe David Joseph Havranek exited a residence at 404 S 4th St. in Youngwood earlier this morning and fired several shots,” police said in a series of tweets. “Some of those shots damaged property. We have credible information that David is barricaded inside the 4th Street address.”

Those living in the immediate area near 4th Street have been instructed to stay in their basement or contact police for emergencies to be escorted out of the town. Residents who cannot go home should go to Youngwood fire hall for warmth.
