‘Out of control,’ intoxicated Penn Township man bit father, police say

A Penn Township man faces assault and harassment charges after an alleged physical altercation late Sunday.

According to state police at Rockview, troopers responded at about 11:10 p.m. to an address along Terrys Drive in Coburn for a report of an “out of control 21-year-old” who was intoxicated and destroying items in the house. On entry, troopers reported observing multiple broken items, including glass in the kitchen and broken areas of drywall.

The suspect, Luke W. Weaver, 21, had been restrained in the living room, police said. He was described as “extremely uncooperative and highly intoxicated.”

Troopers spoke with his father, police said, who reported Weaver had come home intoxicated and began destroying things. When the father attempted to restrain him, the altercation reportedly became physical as Weaver bit his father on the arm, causing a laceration.

A bite was reportedly observed on the father’s arm, police said.

Weaver was taken into custody and charged with one misdemeanor count of simple assault and summary charges of harassment and disorderly conduct. Straight bail was set at $10,000, and he was bonded out of the Centre County Correctional Facility.

A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 24, court documents said.
