Man threatened mother with a knife, police say
A Ferguson Township man was charged with robbery and assault after a reported incident late Thursday afternoon.
According to the affidavit, Ferguson Township police officers responded at about 3:30 p.m. to the 200 block of Blue Course Drive for a report of a domestic dispute. On arrival, they contacted a female resident and, through a translator, were able to determine she had allegedly been in a fight with her son, Franklin E. L. Sajbin.
The woman claimed Sajbin had been intoxicated and had gotten into a fight with her, police said. At one point, he reportedly got on top of her to get a phone from her while holding a knife. He had allegedly told her to give him the phone or “he would kill her.”
She was able to get away and out of the apartment, police said.
Sajbin was not at the apartment when police arrived.
“While collecting the knife from the apartment, Franklin came back,” police said, noting that he was taken into custody at that time.
A search of his person reportedly revealed a plastic bag containing 5.1 grams of marijuana, which tested positive for the drug.
Sajbin was arraigned Friday before District Judge Allen Sinclair, according to court documents, and charged with a felony count of robbery and misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and possession of a small amount of marijuana. Straight monetary bail was set at $50,000 and he was taken to the Centre County Correctional Facility.
A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 24.
