Man pleads guilty to having explosive device
A Morrisdale man accused of having an explosive device pleaded guilty Tuesday.
Jonathan Michael Harvey, 24, was sentenced by Judge Paul Cherry to nine months to two years less one day in the county jail and three years consecutive probation for a misdemeanor count of conspiracy/prohibited offensive weapons.
He was originally charged with a felony count of weapons of mass destruction, unlawful possession or manufacture, and a misdemeanor count of make repairs/sell/offensive weapon after police apprehended him at a Lawrence Township, Clearfield County, residence on March 1.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, a state parole officer contacted local police regarding Harvey, a fugitive who had a warrant for absconding from Tomorrow’s Hope in Coalport. Harvey was suspected of staying with Jake Schneider at a Daisy Street Extension home in Clearfield.
Police and state parole officers who went to that address found Harvey, who was then taken into custody without a problem.
While sweeping the home, the officers reportedly found drugs and paraphernalia in plain view as well as a hutch with eight to 10 silver pouches with suspected synthetic marijuana.
An open bag near the hutch allegedly contained gun powder, wire, caps and other materials used to create homemade pipe bombs and an assembled pipe bomb, police said. In November, Schneider pleaded guilty to make repairs/sell/offensive weapon, hindering apprehension, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was sentenced to 120 days to one year in the county jail and two years consecutive probation.
