Preliminary hearing waived for man accused of stealing 3 guns
A Houtzdale man accused of stealing three guns waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during centralized court in Clearfield County.
Richard Allen Supenia, 54, of Houtzdale, was charged by state police with three felony counts each of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, and driving under the influence as well as several summaries stemming from an incident on Jan. 19 in Gulich Township.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, a resident of Gulich Township reported to police that Supenia arrived at his house asking for fuel for his ATV that was parked at the man’s home. As the man attempted to leave, he allegedly saw Supenia coming down his stairs carrying three of the man’s guns including two shotguns and a revolver.
Because he was afraid of Supenia, the man did not confront him about the weapons, he told police.
Supenia then allegedly traveled on his ATV to a bar in Janesville. A witness told police that Supenia was there several hours and appeared to be “on something” and was “whacked out.”
After he left the bar around 3 p.m., he rode 3 miles before he reportedly crashed his ATV on Plank Road in Gulich Township. He was flown to UPMC Altoona for treatment of a serious injury.
Supenia remains incarcerated in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
