State College man stole more than 100 albums from local music store, police say

A State College man was accused Friday by borough police of stealing nearly $3,800 of albums from Music Underground.

Scott Miller Jr., 22, admitted in December to stealing from the independent record store at 224 W. College Ave., an officer wrote in an affidavit of probable cause filed Friday.

The business’ owners in November showed police surveillance video of Miller removing albums from the shelves, placing them in a bag or backpack and leaving the store without paying, police wrote.

Miller is accused of stealing 133 albums between September and November. Defense lawyer Jason Dunkle declined to comment Friday.

Miller was charged with one felony count each of retail theft and receiving stolen property.

He was arraigned Friday by District Judge Don Hahn, who released Miller pending his appearance at future court proceedings.

Miller waived his preliminary hearing, and is scheduled to be arraigned March 11.
