Man broke into Patton Township apartment, assaulted occupants, police say
A New York man was jailed Sunday after Patton Township police charged him with breaking into an apartment and physically assaulting two people inside.
Officers were dispatched about 7:15 p.m. Saturday to a Vairo Boulevard apartment. A woman told police Dalton Cruz, 25, broke through her door and demanded she give him a necklace, an officer wrote in an affidavit of probable cause filed Sunday.
Cruz slapped and kicked a man inside the apartment when the woman went to retrieve the necklace, police wrote. Cruz also grabbed the woman’s arm and pushed her to the floor, police wrote.
A defense lawyer for Cruz was not listed on a court document.
Cruz was charged with one felony count each of burglary and criminal trespassing, and one misdemeanor count of simple assault.
He was arraigned Sunday by District Judge Steven Lachman, who set bail at $50,000. Cruz did not post bail and is detained at the Centre County Correctional Facility.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
