Spring Mills man faces assault charges after altercation in store parking lot
A Spring Mills man was jailed Thursday after a woman told state police at Rockview he pistol-whipped her, threatened to shoot her and brandished a gun in Homan’s General Store’s parking lot.
Joseph Klinger, 32, is accused of pointing a firearm at the woman and telling her he was “going to shoot her and commit a murder,” a trooper wrote in an affidavit of probable cause filed Thursday.
The woman ran into the convenience store about 2:45 p.m. Thursday after the dispute. Klinger followed and attempted to get into the store with a firearm in his hand, police wrote.
Klinger admitted to drinking alcohol and taking prescription medication before the incident. He denied a blood test at Mount Nittany Medical Center, but a portable breath test detected alcohol, police wrote.
A defense lawyer for Klinger was not listed on a court document.
Klinger was charged with one felony count of aggravated assault, two misdemeanor counts each of DUI and simple assault and one misdemeanor count each of terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person. He was also charged with four summary traffic citations and one summary count of harassment.
He was arraigned Thursday by District Judge Allen Sinclair, who set bail at $50,000. Klinger did not post bail and is detained at the Centre County Correctional Facility.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
