Philipsburg man faces felony charge after altercation with knife, police say
A Philipsburg man was jailed Wednesday after a female told state police at Rockview that he threatened to shoot and stab her.
A trooper was dispatched about 11:35 p.m. Tuesday to Rush Township, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed Wednesday.
The female told police Corey Wolford, 49, threatened to shoot her, retrieved a “knife that looked like brass knuckles” and moved toward her, police wrote. It was not clear how the altercation ended.
A defense lawyer for Wolford was not listed on a court document.
Wolford was charged with one felony count of aggravated assault, one misdemeanor count each of terroristic threats, possession of an offensive weapon and simple assault, and one summary count of harassment.
He was arraigned Wednesday by District Judge Steven Lachman, who set bail at 10% of $5,000. Wolford did not post bail and is detained at the Centre County Correctional Facility.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 8.
