23-year-old man killed in hit-and-run crash in Centre County

A 23-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Centre County Friday night.

John David King was operating a non-motorized scooter along state Route 45 in the area of Penns Valley and Paradise roads in Penn Township when he was struck by a vehicle at about 9 p.m., according to Centre County Chief Deputy Coroner Judy Pleskonko.

The vehicle, which is believed to be a silver or white Honda Pilot, had been traveling westbound on Route 45, and sustained damage to its front passenger side, state police said.
