Centre County residents among those charged in ‘massive’ meth bust spanning multiple counties

Nearly 40 men and women, including some Centre County residents, were indicted by a federal grand jury on drug, money laundering and firearms charges, according to a federal prosecutor.

John Cyphert, 59, of Centre Hall; Timothy Ferguson, 32; David Klanish, 49, and Miranda Williams, 46, all of Philipsburg, were accused of distributing and possessing methamphetamine from July 2019 until June in the Western District of Pennsylvania, which does not include Centre County.

Each face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in state prison if convicted, United States Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania Scott Brady said in a statement.

The 18-month investigation was the largest drug investigation in Clearfield County’s history, Brady said.

“Methamphetamine presents a clear and present danger to the safety and well-being of our western Pennsylvania communities,” Brady said. “... We have successfully dismantled an organization bringing kilo quantities of meth from Atlanta for distribution throughout northcentral (Pennsylvania).”
