Centre County man arrested in connection with Clearfield County homicide
A Howard man was accused Thursday of fatally shooting his estranged girlfriend in Clearfield County.
Anthony Boone, 36, shot Rebecca Solt, 40, several times about 3:20 p.m. Thursday along the 2100 block of Legion Road in Clearfield County, Lawrence Township police wrote in an affidavit of probable cause.
Solt died of a gunshot wound to the chest, Clearfield County Coroner Kim Shaffer-Snyder said. Her death was ruled a homicide.
A witness told officers she saw Boone shoot Solt. She also told police she saw a text message from Boone to Solt that said, “When I find you, I will ... kill you,” police wrote.
Boone and Solt lived together earlier this year, but Boone moved out because there “was a history of abuse.” He had a protection from abuse order issued against him one month before the shooting, police wrote.
Boone fled after the shooting. He remained free until he was arrested about 1:45 p.m. Friday at Hogback Bridge, Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan Sayers said.
Boone is alive, but was being treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Sayers said.
Boone is set to be charged with one count of homicide, one felony count each of prohibited possession of a firearm and aggravated assault, and one misdemeanor count each of prohibited possession of a firearm and simple assault.
Boone was convicted or pleaded guilty in Centre County at least three times to either assault or terroristic threats.
He was found guilty in April 2008 of two misdemeanor count of simple assault, one misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person and two summary counts of harassment.
He assaulted his ex-girlfriend and a man who attempted to intervene. He was sentenced to at least 60 days in the Centre County Correctional Facility.
He pleaded guilty in 2009 to one misdemeanor count of terroristic threats and was sentenced to at least one year in state prison. He also pleaded guilty in 2010 to one felony count of aggravated assault.
