Centre County woman pleads guilty to stealing more than $100,000 from employer

A Snow Shoe woman accused of stealing about $111,000 from her employer pleaded guilty Friday, Centre County’s top prosecutor said.

Renee Glunt, 45, used Witherite Property Management’s credit card 528 times from May 2018 until October 2019 to make personal purchases, including airplane tickets, insurance and at several retail stores.

Glunt, who also wrote 39 checks to herself, did not deny stealing the money from the Pleasant Gap-based business. She planned to pay the company back, but never did, Spring Township police wrote in an affidavit of probable cause filed in November.

The company’s former office manager pleaded guilty to five felony counts each of forgery and access device fraud, and one felony count of theft by deception, county District Attorney Bernie Cantorna said.

The open plea agreement is capped at nine to 23 1/2 months in the Centre County Correctional Facility, followed by three years of probation.

Defense lawyer Tim Fleming did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The district attorney’s office also plans to seek out full restitution, Cantorna said. Glunt is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 22.
