Man charged with rape at Penn State fraternity house party

A New Jersey man was accused Thursday of raping a woman at a Penn State fraternity house party.

State College police charged Ben Flynn, 20, after a monthslong investigation that included interviews with the woman, at least three witnesses and a private security company hired by the fraternity.

Borough police officers responded in November to Phi Kappa Sigma, 234 E. Beaver Ave., after a Standing Stone Security officer reported they heard three fraternity members yelling at Flynn that he “did something very wrong,” police wrote in an affidavit of probable cause.

The woman, who was transported by an Uber driver to Mount Nittany Medical Center for a sexual assault exam, told officers Flynn raped her after she said no several times, police wrote.

Flynn did not deny having intercourse with the woman when he was confronted by several fraternity members, police wrote.

Flynn was charged with one felony count each of rape and sexual assault. A defense lawyer was not listed on a court document.

He was arraigned Thursday by District Judge Don Hahn, who released Flynn on $50,000 unsecured bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 14.
