Man accused of rape in Centre County shot himself during encounter with officers, police say

An arrest warrant was issued Sunday for a Blair County man in connection with an alleged rape in Centre County, state police at Rockview wrote in a statement.

A woman reported about 1:20 a.m. Sunday she was raped by Trevor Snowberger, 31, in Boggs Township. He was found about 10 minutes later sitting in his vehicle at the intersection state Route 220 and Skytop Mountain Road, police wrote.

After officers arrived, they said he brandished a handgun and ignored verbal commands to drop the weapon.

Snowberger shot himself in the “facial area,” police wrote. He was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Altoona before being transferred to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment of serious injuries.

Snowberger is set to be charged with three felony counts of aggravated indecent assault and two felony counts each of rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

He’s also set to be charged with three misdemeanor counts of indecent assault and one misdemeanor count each of terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault.
