Berks County man sentenced to probation for groping Penn State student on campus

A man who groped a Penn State student on campus and left her with bruises and scratches was sentenced Tuesday to four years of probation.

Bradley M. Walmer, 19, of Berks County, was also sentenced by Centre County Judge Brian Marshall to register as a sex offender for 15 years, Centre County First Assistant District Attorney Sean McGraw wrote in an email.

Walmer disrobed and groped the woman in February 2022 inside Martin Hall, university police wrote in an affidavit of probable cause. He was intoxicated, telling a detective he consumed multiple shots of liquor and cans of beer throughout the night.

University police issued a Timely Warning after the allegations were reported. Walmer was detained at the Centre County Correctional Facility for five days before he posted bail.

He pleaded guilty in September to one misdemeanor count each of indecent assault and simple assault. Two charges, including one felony count of attempted sexual assault, were dropped.

A message was left for defense lawyer Jay Nigrini.

Walmer is not enrolled at Penn State, university spokeswoman Lisa Powers wrote in an email. He was last enrolled during the fall 2021 semester.
