Penns Valley man to serve years in prison for indecent assault of teenage girl in Centre County

A Centre County man was sentenced Tuesday to at least three years in state prison for indecently assaulting a teenage girl.

Raymond L. Warner, 45, of Potter Township, will remain under supervision for 13 years under an agreement he reached with county prosecutors.

Centre County President Judge Jonathan Grine sentenced Warner to no more than 10 years in prison, as well as three years of probation. Warner received credit for nearly a year served in the Centre County Correctional Facility.

Defense lawyer Stephanie Cooper declined comment.

The teen told investigators Warner followed her into a bedroom where he was accused of engaging in attempted rape, digital penetration, oral sex, groping and unwanted kissing. She said it left her mad, scared and uncomfortable.

He denied the allegations in a March 2023 interview with state police at Rockview, but pleaded guilty in October to a felony count of aggravated indecent assault. Three charges were dropped.

Raymond E. Walker, 20, of Potter Township, was accused of sexually abusing the girl in a separate incident. She told investigators he exposed his penis and placed her hand on it without her consent, state police wrote.

Grine accepted him into a pre-trial intervention program in May. He was placed into the program for two years and was ordered to complete at least one day of community service.

The Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program is meant for non-violent offenders who have limited or no prior criminal record. It is offered on a case-by-case basis by Centre County District Attorney Bernie Cantorna’s office.

People who complete the program successfully may later seek to have their charges dismissed, while those who don’t may be prosecuted.
