Centre County woman accused of stealing parking pass money from property management company
A former employee of a property management company in downtown State College was charged Friday with stealing more than $5,000 from her former employer.
Stacy L. Allen, 53, of Spring Township, was accused of retaining the money she received from payments for parking passes she issued while working at Continental Real Estate.
The payments were sent to her personal Venmo account and were not forwarded to the business, a State College police officer wrote in an affidavit of probable cause.
The charging document identified six students who sent Allen money for parking passes. One of the payments was for as little as $237.50, while one was as large as $950. The alleged thefts were committed between March 2023 and August 2023.
During a late December interview at her home, Allen admitted to receiving payments from residents for parking spaces and said she forwarded some — but not all — of the money to the business, police wrote.
“Her name is familiar, I probably did take it. I honest to God don’t remember 100% but look at the evidence, so I’ll say yes,” police quoted Allen as saying when she was asked about a specific payment. “Like I say, you know what I mean, I don’t really remember, but I’m not going to say, ‘That wasn’t me but all the rest were.’ ”
No defense lawyer was listed for Allen and a message left at a number listed for her was not immediately returned Friday afternoon. Continental Real Estate declined comment.
Allen was charged with felony counts of forgery, theft and receiving stolen property. She was released after District Judge Don Hahn set bail Friday at $55,000 unsecured.
Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
