Centre County man arrested, accused of sharing videos that depict child sexual abuse

A Centre County man was arrested Wednesday at the end of a yearlong investigation that alleged he possessed three videos depicting the sexual abuse of children.

Christopher B. Kennedy, 26, of Gregg Township, was charged with three felony counts of possession of child pornography, as well as a felony count of criminal use of a communication facility.

Kennedy sent the videos in October 2023 on an instant messaging app, a Pennsylvania prosecutor alleged in an affidavit of probable cause. Two of the videos showed the sexual abuse of girls, while the third showed underage girls engage in group sex, the prosecutor wrote.

Investigators also said the information used to create the instant messaging account was connected to Kennedy. A defense lawyer was not listed for Kennedy, whom prosecutors said is in the Army Reserve.

Kennedy was arraigned Wednesday by District Judge Don Hahn, who set bail at $90,000. He is incarcerated at the Centre County Correctional Facility. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 19.
