Man arrested after woman says she was indecently assaulted in Philipsburg
A man was arrested Tuesday after a woman told police he strangled and indecently assaulted her in Philipsburg.
Gage T. Swoope, 28, of Clearfield County, was charged Tuesday with felony counts of strangulation and aggravated indecent assault, as well as a summary harassment citation.
The woman said Swoope grabbed her by the neck and pushed her against a wall in her bedroom, state police at Rockview wrote in an affidavit of probable cause. She told a trooper it was difficult for her to breathe.
Swoope was accused of then disrobing the woman and digitally penetrating her while she told him to stop.
District Judge Kelley Gillette-Walker set bail at $15,000, which Swoope posted Wednesday through a bondsman. He was released from the Centre County Correctional Facility.
Swoope told the Centre Daily Times he was represented by a defense lawyer, but did not immediately share their name and none was listed online. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 21.
