A man arrested Friday was accused of repeatedly raping a child over a period of nearly four years in Bellefonte and nearby Clinton County.

Michael W. Oglesby, 39, of Clinton County, was charged with felony counts of child rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors. The acts are alleged to have started when the child was younger than 13, beginning around February 2015.

The child disclosed at least five specific allegations during a pair of interviews at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Centre County, the Bellefonte police detective wrote in a heavily redacted affidavit of probable cause.

The child said they were given a cigarette after one alleged attack and $10 after another. Oglesby was also alleged to have shown the child pornography.

District Judge Kelley Gillette-Walker denied bail, describing Oglesby as a serious public safety risk and saying he is unlikely to show up at future court appearances because of his “living situation.” He is incarcerated at the Centre County Correctional Facility.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 6.
