A Rush Township man has been charged with homicide after a woman was found dead at her home on Saturday.

Dawn Reed, 57, was found dead at her Rush Township residence in the 700 block of North Front Street after state police at Rockview responded for a report of a welfare check.

After investigation, Alan Keith Reed, 74, was arrested and charged with criminal homicide and strangulation, state police said in a press release. He was arraigned Sunday morning by District Judge Don Hahn, who denied bail, citing the seriousness of the charge and inherent flight risk. Alan Reed is incarcerated at the Centre County Correctional Facility.

In a press release, Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers said an autopsy was conducted and Dawn Reed’s cause of death is pending investigation and toxicology testing.

A state police at Rockview spokesperson did not provide additional information Sunday, pointing instead to an affidavit of probable cause, which was not immediately publicly available.

The case remains under investigation.
