A Centre County man was arrested Monday — and additional charges appear to be forthcoming — after police said they discovered him in possession of hundreds of photos and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children.

Some of the images showed Samuel C. Friday, 67, of Taylor Township, having sexual intercourse on camera with a juvenile female, state police at Rockview wrote in an affidavit of probable cause.

Other images found in Friday’s bedroom showed children posing and performing sexual acts with him, police wrote. Troopers said Friday could also be seen communicating with two juveniles while recording them in partial and full states of nudity.

Two additional men were seen on video performing sex acts with a juvenile, police wrote. No one else has been charged as of 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Troopers began investigating Thursday after learning of allegations that Friday paid juveniles to perform sexual acts with him and for his viewing. They searched his home about 8 p.m. Monday after an interview was conducted at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Centre County.

Police said Friday brandished a firearm when troopers arrived and was physically detained. He later admitted to taking nude photographs of a juvenile female and having some “sexual involvement” with her, police wrote.

Friday is charged with 10 felony counts of child sexual abuse material. District Judge Casey McClain denied bail Tuesday, citing pending charges related to the “physical acts” and because his accusers are afraid of retaliation.

He is incarcerated at the Centre County Correctional Facility and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 26.
