A Centre County man was arrested Tuesday after state police said he shared images and a video depicting the sexual abuse of children.

Hunter Henney, 22, of Walker Township, was charged with felony counts of child sexual abuse material and criminal use of a communication facility. He is also under investigation for what District Judge Kelley Gillette-Walker described as “related offenses.”

A trooper said in a redacted affidavit of probable cause that three images of children exposing themselves were uploaded to popular social media apps Instagram and Snapchat in August 2021. Three similar images and a video were uploaded to Snapchat in October 2023.

Police tracked the images to Henney, who they said admitted during an interview Tuesday to possessing and disseminating the files. Child sexual abuse material was also found on Henney’s laptop, police wrote.

Henney was denied bail Tuesday by Gillette-Walker and is incarcerated at the Centre County Correctional Facility. He was free on bail at the time of his arrest.

He’s also facing misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors and harassment for kissing and sending sexually explicit photos of himself to an underage teenager in August 2024.

A message left Wednesday morning with Centre County Deputy Public Defender Patrick Klena, who represents Henney against the misdemeanor charges, was not immediately returned.

Henney’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17.
