A pedestrian was seriously injured and a man was arrested after a pre-dawn, hit-and-run crash in downtown State College.

The pedestrian, a 20-year-old Penn State student, was hit about 2:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of East Beaver Avenue and South Garner Street, borough police said in a press release. The driver left the scene.

The student was transported to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, police wrote. Officers later located the vehicle and arrested a 33-year-old man. Charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.

Neither the student nor the 33-year-old man’s name has been released.

The department encouraged those with information about the crash to call 814-234-7150, email police@statecollegepa.us or submit an anonymous tip online.
