A tentative date has been set for the sentencing of Omar Best, the former Rockview inmate convicted Tuesday of rape and aggravated assault of a prison worker.
Best will be sentenced Aug. 7, according to Centre County Judge Bradley P. Lunsford. That date could be shifted, however.
Lunsford declined to set the date when the verdict was returned Tuesday because of an evaluation that must be conducted by the county probation office before sentencing, even though Best is still in state custody as a result of prior robbery, assault and rape convictions.
Those previous charges, and a lengthy rap sheet, could impact his sentence.
