Man faces assault charges after fraternity incident

A man was charged Friday after allegedly punching a female victim.

State College police said Matthew Gilbert was charged with simple assault.

Lt. Brad Smail said the woman told police Gilbert punched her.

The incident alleged happened at a fraternity house at 229 Locust Lane.

It was first reported to Penn State campus police, and then handed to the State College Police Department, Smail said.

Police had no further information.
