State College police investigating reported attempted sexual assault
State College police are investigating the report of an attempted sexual assault that happened in State College early Saturday morning.
As a college-aged female was walking east on the 700 block of East Foster Avenue, an unknown man was walking west on the same road and bumped into her, police said.
In doing so, the suspect then allegedly grabbed the victim’s arms, and attempted to sexually assault the woman on the sidewalk of the 700 block of East Foster Avenue until someone from a nearby building opened a door, police added.
“The sound of the door opening caused the suspect to stop assaulting the victim and flee the area,” Detective Stephen Bosak said.
The suspect was last seen running toward downtown, police said.
The suspect was described as a skinny, college-aged black male who’s about 5 feet 9 inches tall. He did not have facial hair and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans at the time of the alleged assault, police said.
Lt. Brad Smail said the woman initially reported to police that the suspect pulled down his pants and pulled down her skirt, however that information was not included in a press release.
“It’s still under investigation, and we’re doing a follow-up,” Smail said.
Police are encouraging anyone with information to contact the department at 234-7150, or submit an email through the website at www.statecollegepa.us/police.
