Man accused of Black Friday theft waives hearing

A man accused of stealing merchandise valued at about $2,000 from the Benner Pike Wal-Mart on Black Friday waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday.

According to a criminal complaint, Shane Douglas Marsh, 30, went to Wal-Mart on Nov. 28 and allegedly proceeded to the exit without paying for any of the items he loaded into his cart.

Marsh allegedly loaded an HP 23 AIO computer, priced at $649, and a 50-inch LG HD TV, on sale for $698.

State College police issued a press release on Nov. 30 with pictures of the man. Police received multiple calls and emails in which they were able to conclude that the suspect was Marsh.

Marsh is charged with a felony count of retail theft and a felony count of receiving stolen property.
