A weekend incident in Penns Valley is prompting social media interest.
State police at Rockview said in a press release that it started at about 11:20 a.m. Sunday when troopers received a report about a suspicious vehicle outside the New Hope Luthern Church in Gregg Township. Police say once the vehicle was “located, encountered, and a pursuit ensued.”
According to police, the suspect in the incident has been identified, but no further information was released about the person’s identity or any charges.
Police did, however, comment on the Internet response to the incident.
“Contrary to social media post, is (sic) has been determined that the incident is not related to any terroristic activity,” police said.
“I spoke with one of the troopers involved in the investigation this morning, and he assured me if there was anything we needed to be aware of in relation to the safety of the school, he me that there was nothing to worry about and if anything changed, he would let me know,” said Penns Valley Area Superintendent Brian Griffith.
