Police investigating reported debit card theft
State police at Rockview are investigating a reported debit card theft, in which an unknown individual allegedly withdrew nearly $4,000 from a Spring Mills woman’s account.
On Dec. 16 and 17, the victim, 51, realized that money from her account was gone. According to a press release, the victim was still in possession of her card when she realized that several unauthorized withdrawals totaling more than $3,900 was missing.
According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 7,698,500 people age 16 or older have experienced at least one identity theft incident in the past 12 months, totaling more than $555 billion.
Police say they will continue to investigate.
