Man charged with assaulting woman Christmas Day
A man was arraigned Wednesday morning before District Judge Kelly Gillette-Walker on charges of assaulting a woman on Christmas Day.
Philip Michael Thomas Dauberman, 25, of McElhattan, was charged with simple assault and harassment on Wednesday after allegedly entering a woman’s residence on Eagle Valley Road in Liberty Township.
According to the criminal complaint, Dauberman was intoxicated when he arrived at the woman’s home at about 3 a.m. Friday.
The criminal complaint said the woman and Dauberman got into a verbal altercation that allegedly turned physical.
The woman told police that Dauberman told her multiple times that he wanted to “kill himself.” She also told police that Dauberman retrieved a rifle from a spare bedroom.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the altercation took place when the woman attempted to take the gun from Dauberman.
Dauberman allegedly head-butted the woman in the face, causing what police described as a “visible swollen, black-and-blue left eye.”
Dauberman was unable to post bail and is being held at the Centre County Correctional Facility on $25,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 6 at the Centre County Courthouse.
