A Philipsburg man was arraigned Thursday by District Judge Carmine Prestia after allegedly attempting to flee from police.

According to the affidavit, Rolland William Neilly, 28, did “willfully fail to bring his vehicle, a 2006 Ford hatchback, he was operating to a stop.” Neilly was subsequently charged with a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.

The criminal complaint details the encounter. The officer writes that when he approached the vehicle, Neilly was crying. When the officer asked Neilly why he was crying, he responded that his license was suspended.

A preliminary hearing will be held for Neilly in the upcoming weeks.
