Man arrested and charged with attempted burglary in Bellefonte bank incident
Bellefonte police have made an arrest in a recent burglary at the First National Bank in Bellefonte.
Andrew Joseph Pillot, 25, of Bellefonte, was arrested at about 7 p.m. and preliminarily arraigned early Friday morning before District Judge Kelley Gillette-Walker.
He was charged with attempted burglary.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Officer Todd Walter “observed what looked like multiple hammer strikes to the ballistic drive-up window.”
Walter’s affidavit indicates he believed the person was “attempting to break into the bank” to steal cash.
Pictures show that the window is shattered but did not break open.
Surveillance video images released Thursday morning showed a man dressed in a gray hooded sweatshirt smashing the window “with a yellow claw type hammer” on Wednesday at about midnight.
Pillot will await his preliminary hearing scheduled for Feb. 10 at the Centre County jail, as court documents indicate that he was unable to post bail, which was set at $100,000.
