New info emerges in Ferguson Township murder investigation
Jean Tuggy, who was found dead on Jan. 21 inside her Pine Grove Mills home, died from a “gunshot wound to the face,” according to Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers.
The cause of death became public record Monday in a cremation authorization submitted to Sayers’ office on Jan. 23.
Tuggy was cremated Jan. 27.
Tuggy’s body was found at her Irion Street home by two friends. According to police and the new document, she died on Jan. 20. Sayers signed off on the cause of death on Jan. 22.
Police have not named a suspect yet, and no arrest has been made in this case.
In the initial press release issued by Ferguson Township police, robbery was preliminarily ruled out as a motive.
Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller, Ferguson Township police and the state police are working together on what they’ve determined to be an intentional homicide investigation.
Law enforcement officials have not released many details regarding the case but are requesting that residents remain vigilant by locking their doors and windows.
In an email Tuesday, Parks Miller said that the cremation authorization contained details initially held back.
“We still do not want to publicize too many details since if someone does have information, the best way to test the accuracy of that information is to see if they know true details,” said Parks Miller.
