The Centre County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased woman found along the side of a Pine Grove Mills road early Sunday morning.
According to a press release from Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers, the woman’s name is Corinne Pena.
Pena, 35, was from the Philadelphia area.
Police have not provided any information as to what Pena was doing in the area.
According to the press release signed by Sayers, “an autopsy has been completed and is waiting on toxicology results, which will take numerous weeks.”
The results of the autopsy may give police more information to how and why Pena ended up on the side of Plainfield Road.
Pena was found deceased by a passer-by traveling along the road at about 3:20 a.m. Sunday.
At the time her body was found, Ferguson Township police said that there were no obvious signs of trauma to her body.
Police also said in a press release issued Tuesday that “it appears the woman was transported by vehicle to the site where she was found and then abandoned there. There are no indications that the woman walked on her own to the place where she was found.”
Police still do not have any descriptions of the vehicle that is believed to have dropped her off.
Police think the body was dropped off between 11 p.m. Saturday and 3:20 a.m. Sunday.
Anyone with information is asked to call Ferguson Township police at 800-479-0050.
